![]() ![]() Still confused? Let's look at our heroes. A person inherits one allele (gene, trait) from each parent, and their combination determines what trait a person will show, with dominant one coming on top. Hair color is just one example, the others may be eyes shape, lips form etc. All people carry both dominant and recessive genes that determine different aspects of our appearance and other characteristics of an individual. Here's where it gets complicated: if Liquid really received all the dominant traits which, according to his logic, would've made him a superior soldier, then how the hell did he have a blonde hair, a trait that is known to be 100% recessive? Quite a bummer, right? The guy had a huge inferiority complex without any reason (pun intended). Only at the end of the game we learn that it was vice versa and that Liquid was, in fact, superior one. Liquid held quite a grudge against his "father" and brother because of one thing that bothered him ever since he was a child - he inherited recessive traits of his "father", and so he cursed his fate for being born inferior. Both of them were clones of a legendary soldier known as Big Boss, but they were intentionally made imperfect, with one of them inheriting all of the dominant genes and the other one getting all the recessive ones. So, back in 1998 the first MGS game was released and we, players, were introduced to the twin brother of the main hero, Solid Snake - Liquid Snake. Now, due to the recent success of Metal Gear Solid 5 there are few people who don't know about its main characters and what do they have to do with cloning, but just in case someone isn't, I'll explain.
